I am also trying to stay as physically fit as possible, walking, running, and was even convinced to go climbing at Ironworks, which I really enjoyed and hope to do again before treatment starts. I am working and doing everything as normally as I can, in-between the many doctor appointments, and I will do this as long as I can. I have been told to expect a 6 week period of feeling very shitty, at least. So I am hoping to go into this as healthfully as possible.

How I am doing, or "Eat, Drink and Be Merry"
I am happy to report that there does not seem to be a recession in any of my favorite Bay Area restaurants. Thanks to my good friends and family I am wading through a wide variety of favorite meals and alcoholic endeavors, so far including beer, wine, Champagne, Cosmos, Margaritas, Sherry, and Black Russians. (Hmm, I need to add some scotch in there). Since I will have problems swallowing, and lose my sense of taste from the RT, (not permanently) my Dr. has told me to eat all of my favorite foods and basically gain weight. I am working on this!

Judy,
ReplyDeleteLast night I talked with my friend Julie (Lewis) Rankin...(I'll always know her as Julie Lewis)...in Oklahoma City. She would LOVE to talk with you about her bout of throat cancer just last year. We had a great conversation and I think she can be helpful to you. You'll already doing the first thing "eat, drink, and be merry." She said at least 2,000 calories a day, but you need to hear it from her.
Phone numbers:
Julie Rankin: 405/285-1742 (home)
405/570-0549 (cell)
She said they'd be gone this weekend (3/20-3/22) so use the cell.
You are in my heart and thoughts. Hang in there.
